What we do

What the job covers

Brakes are the repair drivers put off longest, and the one that punishes waiting hardest. Pads wear down to the backing plate, the plate scores the rotor, and a pad-and-rotor job becomes a caliper job. The noise that started as a morning squeal turns into metal on metal.

We do the whole repair where the car is parked. Same parts a shop fits, same torque specifications, same road test at the end. You keep your afternoon.

  • Pads and rotors

Front and rear pad replacement, with rotors turned or replaced depending on what they measure.

  • Calipers and slide pins

Seized pins and torn boots are the two faults we find most on cars that live near the Gulf. We service or replace them while the wheel is already off.

  • Brake fluid

We test the fluid for moisture and flush the system when it reads wet. Old fluid boils under hard braking and the pedal drops toward the floor.

  • Hoses and hard lines

We inspect flexible hoses for bulging and hard lines for corrosion. Coastal cars lose lines to rust from the outside in, and a weeping line is a tow, not a repair.

  • Parking brake

Adjustment or cable replacement on drum-in-hat setups, and reset procedures on integrated electric parking brakes.

  • Road test

We bed the new pads in on a road test before packing up, so the first hard stop belongs to us and not to you.

In your words

What people tell us before we arrive

  • There's a grinding noise when I brake

  • It squeals in the morning, then stops after a few stops

  • The pedal goes soft and sinks toward the floor

  • The steering wheel shakes when I slow down from highway speed

  • The car pulls to one side when I hit the brakes

  • My brake light came on and it won't go off

Any of these and we can tell you what it is before we touch a wheel. Send us the symptom and we will bring the parts.

Setting it straight

Warped rotors are almost never warped

Most people call a pulsing brake pedal a warped rotor, and plenty of shops go along with it. Cast iron does not deform at the temperatures a road car reaches. What you are feeling is pad material deposited unevenly across the rotor face. The pad drags over a thicker patch once per wheel revolution, and that is the shake through the steering wheel as you slow from highway speed, along with the pulse in the pedal. Cutting the rotor takes the deposit off. Bedding the new pads in on a road test stops it building up again. A shop that sells you a warped rotor has not measured anything.

The visit

How an on-site repair runs

  1. Tell us what you hear

Call or send the form with the year, make, model and the noise. Mileage and the date of the last brake job help us load the right parts before we leave.

  2. We measure, then quote

We pull a wheel, measure pad thickness and check the rotor for runout, and show you the numbers before anything comes apart. You approve the work first. The estimate is free.

  3. We fit and road test

Torque to specification, bed the pads in, and hand back the old parts if you want to see what came off.

We measure the rotor before we decide

Every job starts with a measurement. We check rotor thickness against the manufacturer's minimum. Inside spec, we turn the rotor, and that costs you less than a new one. Past minimum, it gets replaced, because a rotor below minimum cannot shed heat and will not hold a fresh pad surface. We replace what needs replacing and nothing else, and you see the measurement that made the call.

Brake work does not need a lift

Gloved hands fitting a slotted brake rotor over the hub with the caliper swung clear

A brake job happens at the corners of the car, not underneath it. Jack stands on a flat driveway reach everything a lift reaches for pads, rotors and calipers. That makes brakes the single job mobile service handles best, and it is the reason this page exists separately from general mechanical repairs.

The shop version of this repair costs you a morning. You drop the car off, wait for a phone call, arrange a ride, then come back for it. The driveway version costs you the walk outside to check we have finished.

  • You keep the morning you would have spent in a waiting room
  • You see the pad thickness measurement before you approve the work
  • Your car stays in the space where you parked it

Questions

Before you book

Do you bring the parts, or do I buy them?

We bring them. We source pads and rotors that meet or exceed the factory specification for your vehicle, and we confirm the parts with you before we order anything.

Can you replace the pads without replacing the rotors?

Yes, as long as the rotors still measure above minimum thickness. We check that on every job. Once a rotor has gone past minimum, new pads on it will not bed in properly, so it gets replaced.

What happens if you find something else once the wheel is off?

We stop and call you. Seized slide pins and torn caliper boots are the two we find most on cars near the coast. Nothing else gets done until you approve it.

What does a brake job cost?

Brake service starts at $299 per axle. What moves it is the vehicle, the parts it takes, and whether the rotors measure inside spec or need replacing. We measure first and give you the number before anything comes apart, and the estimate is free.

Can you work on my car at an apartment complex?

Usually. We need a level surface and room to open the doors and work beside the wheels. A numbered space in an open lot is fine. A tight parking garage with low clearance is not.

Brakes across a fleet

Vans and light trucks chew through pads faster than family cars, and taking one off the road for a shop visit costs more than the pads do. We work through a whole fleet on site, on a schedule you set, and we measure every corner rather than guessing from mileage.
