St. Petersburg Auto Repair at Your Address

St. Pete is 30 to 45 minutes from our Clearwater base depending on the bridge. We work at homes in the neighborhoods and in office lots where the car sits all day anyway.

Something is wrong with the car and the shop wants it for the day. In St. Pete that means a ride downtown, a ride back, and a work day you do not get to spend working. We take the other route: the van comes to the car, wherever it is already parked.

We handle brakes, electrical faults and parasitic draws, scan-tool diagnostics, AC service and recharge, hybrid and EV work, and engine and transmission jobs across the city. Old Northeast driveways, Kenwood side streets, office lots in Gateway, fleet vehicles that cannot sit in a shop queue for two days. The same tools travel to all of them.

30+ years in the trade, ASE and factory certified, licensed and insured. Estimates are free. Tell us the vehicle and what it is doing and we will give you a straight answer on what it needs.

Salt water is not the same as rain water

Shore Acres, Snell Isle and the low streets off Coffee Pot Bayou take tidal water into the road, and sometimes into a car. Fresh water dries. Salt water keeps working on connector pins, ground points and any control module mounted low in the floor, and the faults it causes show up weeks later. A car that has stood in salt water needs the circuit traced, not a part fitted on a guess.

Short trips are hard on a battery

Much of St. Pete gets driven two miles at a time on the numbered grid, over to Central Avenue and back. That is not long enough for the alternator to put back what starting the engine took out, and a battery that never reaches full charge dies a year early. Add a small draw somewhere in the car and it dies a lot sooner than that.

Office lots are the easiest place to work

In Gateway, Carillon and downtown, the car sits in one spot from morning to evening while you are at a desk. That is the ideal mobile repair: brakes, an alternator, an AC service or a diagnostic scan gets done while you work, and you drive home on the fix. Ask the property manager first, since some lots want to know we will be there.

How far south we go

The whole city, out along the Pinellas Bayway to Tierra Verde. Past the Skyway we are into Manatee County, and that gets booked with our Sarasota runs rather than as a St. Pete visit. Give us the address and we will tell you which one it falls under.

  • The removed corner laid out on the concrete: strut, driveshaft, lower control arm, steering knuckle, wheel hub and tie rod end, beside the road wheel
  • The rebuilt corner back together with the wheel refitted, the car resting on a red wheel dolly with the front end still open

Front Corner Assembly Replacement for a St. Petersburg Collision Center

CarSt. Petersburg

A collision center in St. Petersburg had a car with the front corner damaged in a crash. The strut, steering knuckle, lower control arm, driveshaft and tie rod end all had to come off before anything new could go on.

We stripped the corner down to the shell, laid the damaged parts out to check nothing else had been pulled out of shape, and fitted the replacements.

The car went back on its wheels on their lot, with the front end ready for the rest of their work.

Questions

Booking in St. Petersburg

My street flooded and my car sat in salt water. What now?

Do not keep cycling the ignition to see what happens. Salt water corrodes connector pins and ground straps from the inside, and modules under the seats and carpet are the first casualties. We scan for stored faults, check the grounds and the low-mounted connectors, and tell you what is actually damaged before anyone starts buying parts.

Can you work in a downtown condo garage?

Sometimes. We need clearance for the van, room beside the car, and permission from the building. Tell us the garage and the space when you book, and we will confirm before the day rather than turn up and find we cannot get in.

Do you cover Tierra Verde and the Pinellas Bayway?

Yes. We cover St. Petersburg from Jungle Terrace and Gateway down through the Bayway to Tierra Verde. If an address sits outside that, we will say so when you call instead of booking it and moving you later.

The car starts fine in the morning and cranks slowly after work. Why?

Heat and a battery that is not being fully recharged. A battery that only ever gets short trips, then sits in a hot parking lot all afternoon, loses cranking power before it loses anything else. We load test the battery and check charging output at your car so you find out which part is failing.
